To maintain a fair, balanced, and independent conference, the Organizing Committee in collaboration with the Center for Accredited Healthcare Education (CAHE) will have final authority to approve all industry-supported activities at the Options VI conference.

Commercial Symposium Guidelines
Promotional activities during the Options for the Control of Influenza VI conference must be consistent with high ethical standards, and information should be designed to help healthcare providers improve services to patients. Information must be provided with objectivity, truthfulness, and in good taste and must conform to all relevant laws and regulations.

Canada's Rx&D Code of Conduct
Canada's Research-Based Pharmaceutical Companies (Rx&D) is the national association representing over 22,000 men and women who work for more than
50 research-based pharmaceutical companies in Canada. In recognition of its role
in the international pharmaceutical community, Rx&D is a member of the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Associations (IFPMA). http://www.ifpma.org/News/news_market.aspx

The IFPMA is a nongovernmental organization representing pharmaceutical associations in 51 countries around the world. Part of its mission is:

“To promote and support continuous development, throughout the pharmaceutical industry, of ethical principles and practices voluntarily agreed on...”

As a member of the IFPMA, Rx&D strongly supports IFPMA's mission and the principles of its Code of Pharmaceutical Marketing Practices.

Canada is recognized as having strict regulations in the pharmaceutical industry.
All pharmaceutical companies must adhere to Rx&D's Code of Conduct. If a pharmaceutical company is conducting business in Canada, it is their responsibility to educate themselves and adhere to the Canadian Industry standards. The entire Rx&D Code of Conduct can be found on their website, along with examples of service-oriented items that have been accepted and rejected under this code. It is the pharmaceutical company's responsibility to adhere to all guidelines. The Options for the Control of Influenza VI, Conference Chair, Organizing Committee, Scientific Committee, and Official Secretariat will cooperate with Canada's Rx&D to ensure the enforcement of their guidelines and is not responsible for noncompliance to the Code of Conduct.

Conflict of
Interest Statement

Commercial symposia conducted at the Options for the Control of Influenza VI will be scrutinized to avoid conflict of interest. Symposia producers must submit a program outline and list of confirmed speakers to conference organizers by April 2, 2007 for review by the Scientific Committee. Noncompliance of this directive by symposia producers may lead to lockout if materials are not received by April 2, 2007. All information must include the acknowledgement of commercial or industrial funding. A statement reading “funded by…” and/or “equity in…” where applicable should appear at the conclusion of the text in all printed materials (ie, slides, signage, and handouts).
